I am looking into the history of why glass was used in the making of sidewalks...stoops etc. Was it purely aesthetic?

We have had the pleasure of having Dawn photograph our family many times throughout the years. We have a large family and she always makes sure to capture as many photographs as she can of the individuals as well as the group to make sure we are happy. Her eye is amazing.
